Message to my American Authors Professor:
Am I What I Am or What?
Good gravy.. If you get two of these, ignore the first one. Yes, the one you already read.. unless you didn’t already read it, in which case all is well… well.
Liberty and Independence.. oh.. and Folklore!

Old longings nomadic leap,
Chafing at custom’s chain;
Again from its brumal sleep
Wakens the ferine strain.
Helots of houses no more,
Let us be out, be free;
Fragrance through window and door
Wafts from the woods, the sea.
After the torpor of will,
Morbid with inner strife.
Welcome the animal thrill,
Lending a rest to life
Banish the volumes revered,
Sever from centuries dead;
Ceilings the lamp flicker cheered
Barter for stars instead.
Temple thy dreams with the trees,
Nature thy god alone;
Worship the sun and the breeze,
Altars where none atone.
Voices of solitude call,
Whisper of sedge and stream;
Loosen the fetters that gall,
Back to the primal scheme.
Feel the great throbbing terrene
Pulse in they body beat.
Conscious again of the green
Verdure beneath the feet.
Callous to pain as the rose,
Breathe with instinct’s delight;
Live the existence that goes
Soulless into the night.

As the holidays approach, the giant Asian factories are kicking into high
gear to provide Americans with monstrous piles of cheaply produced goods —
merchandise that has been produced at the expense of American labor. This
year will be different. This year Americans will give the gift of genuine
concern for other Americans. There is no longer an excuse that, at gift
giving time, nothing can be found that is produced by American hands. Yes
there is!It’s time to think outside the box, people. Who says a gift needs to fit in
a shirt box, wrapped in Chinese produced wrapping paper?
Everyone — yes EVERYONE gets their hair cut. How about gift certificates
from your local American hair salon or barber?Gym membership? It’s appropriate for all ages who are thinking about some
health improvement.Who wouldn’t appreciate getting their car detailed? Small, American owned
detail shops and car washes would love to sell you a gift certificate or a
book of gift certificates.Are you one of those extravagant givers who think nothing of plonking down
the Benjamines on a foreign made flat-screen? Perhaps that grateful gift
receiver would like his driveway sealed, or lawn mowed for the summer, or
driveway plowed all winter, or games at the local golf course.There are a bazillion owner-run restaurants — all offering gift
certificates. And, if your intended isn’t the fancy eatery sort, what about
a half dozen breakfasts at the local breakfast joint. Remember, folks this
isn’t about big National chains — this is about supporting your home town
Americans with their financial lives on the line to keep their doors open.How many people couldn’t use an oil change for their car, truck or
motorcycle, done at a shop run by the American working guy?Thinking about a heartfelt gift for mom? Mom would LOVE the services of a
local cleaning lady for a day.My computer could use a tune-up, and I KNOW I can find some young guy who is
struggling to get his repair business up and running.OK, you were looking for something more personal. Local crafts people spin
their own wool and knit them into scarves. They make jewelry, and pottery
and beautiful wooden boxes.Plan your holiday outings at local, owner operated restaurants and leave
your server a nice tip. And, how about going out to see a play or ballet at
your hometown theatre.Musicians need love too, so find a venue showcasing local bands.
Honestly, people, do you REALLY need to buy another ten thousand twinkle
lights for the house? When you buy a five dollar string of light, about
fifty cents stays in the community. If you have those kinds of bucks to
burn, leave the mailman, trash guy or babysitter a nice BIG tip.Christmas is now about caring about US, encouraging American small businesses to keep plugging away to follow
their dreams. And, when we care about other Americans, we care about our
communities, and the benefits come back to us in ways we couldn’t imagine.
THIS is the new American Christmas tradition.
Forward this to everyone on your mailing list — post it to discussion
groups — throw up a post on Craigslist in the Rants and Raves section in
your city — send it to the editor of your local paper and radio stations,
and TV news departments. This is a revolution of caring about each other,
and isn’t that what Christmas is about?
The land of the free and the home of the brave. The founders of which were revolutionaries who, against all odds freed the American people from the governmental control and taxation of “the mother land”. They produced a document which has been viewed as the epitome of freedom, but which is now being used to justify the implementation of governmental control far beyond that which the founders rebelled against.
America ELECTED Barrack Hussein Obama, or Barry Soetoro or whoever he is, as President of the United States of America. Kenya’s minister of lands has complemented America for having elected a “Kenyan-born” man as President. Canadian Press has ventured where the American Mainstream Media fears to tread, in making note of the miserable result of Obama’s election as well as the fact that he was never required to prove his citizenship prior to election. The results of which they predict will be felt and paid for throughout the western world.
Financially successful Americans are being forced to pay for the health, education and welfare of the unsuccessful because welfare is a “right”. In America you have a “right” to express your opinion and beliefs. A right guaranteed by the First Amendment, unless you’re a school teacher or a Country singer who performs for E.S.P.N. or some such radical element trying to communicate something which isn’t considered “politically correct”. The President of the United States of America, and his Democrat allies and some Republicans as well, are working with the United Nations to implement “International Gun Control”. The United Nations? Implementing gun control in America? Yep. Not done yet, but in the works. I could go on, but I’m afraid I’d run out of paper.
Is this the America Thomas Jefferson, George Washington, Benjamin Franklin and a host of other brilliant, freedom and independence oriented people had in mind when they inspired the country to take up arms and risk their very existence against tremendous odds, in the name of freedom? They were men who already had security, but they valued liberty more. Their very signatures on the declaration stood them under threat of death. Five were actually tortured to death. Others lost their homes and property. Nine of the signers fought and died. Their pledge, “For the support of this declaration, with a firm reliance on the protection of the Divine Providence,, we mutually pledge to each other our lives, our fortunes, and our sacred honor.” Did Washington enjoy the benefits typical of todays “leaders”? He helped finance the war with his own money and served without pay. Do our current leaders walk this path? I think they’d need a powerful telescope to even see it.
Obama may be right about the need to update the constitution, but the need is spurred by those like Obama himself who are twisting its intention to fit their self serving desires. You can bet your ass and firewood the founding fathers had no notion of a “United Nations”, nor an “American Union”. What our founders stood for was Independence, which springs from the combination of freedom and responsibility. America was not intended to become the cuddling mommy to its citizens. America was intended to become and remain the land of the free and the home of the brave!
